Encounters with the AP are seldom enjoyable. The emotions they trigger are intense. Just the sight of them brings up baggage.
A reader who ran into the AP started tormenting herself with the question “Why is she so happy?” She went on describing how the AP seemed so guilt-free and without remorse about what she did.
The reader who still carries pains associated with the affair was troubled at the encounter. Her question was a valid one.
She’s disappointed that the AP isn’t hurting the same way she is. In her mind it isn’t fair or right.
There’s a reason why the AP is so happy. She is living a life focused on happenings. It amounts to always focusing on the entertainment provided by a three ring circus in front of them.
For them, life’s about entertainment and excitement. They go from one entertaining moment to the next.
The root word for happiness and happenings are the same. They both depend on ‘events’ or happenings to keep them going. Such marriages are about entertainment.
In order to keep happiness, you have to generate events and keep up appearances. It’s like managing a puppet show. No matter how you feel, happiness demands you keep others happy.
Qualities like commitment, security, honesty and trust aren’t the same as happiness. If you want those in your marriage, it requires a different approach. There are times you will have to choose between happiness or lasting qualities.
