Will I ever be whole again?

One of the unlikely sources of inspiration for me is our flour canister. We’ve had it for years. In those years, it was chipped and the lid broken. Somehow I managed gluing the blue ceramic lid back together even though it was like a jigsaw puzzle.

The canister reminds me of how I can be useful, even when broken at times. The breaks were temporary setbacks that were overcome. Each time I make a loaf of bread or cinnamon rolls, the lid reminds me that even brokenness can be overcome.

A question I hear from readers is “Will I ever be whole again?” They want to be back into daily life and overcome their wounds. On coming across those questions, I think back on the flour canister.

You can be made whole again. It requires building back the broken pieces. It requires bonding, it requires time. The better question is whether or not you’re willing to do that to be whole again.

I understand how you want to rush past the pain and avoid dealing with the brokenness. The idea of instant healing is a fairy story.  There’s no instant healing for you or your spouse.

Quick fix solutions end up being incomplete. You get the emotional recharge without substantive change.

Real healing is about repairing your brokenness. It means you have to face your vulnerabilities and hidden side. If you leave out a few pieces here and there, you’ll remain incomplete.

In the downloadable Affair Recovery Workshop, I take you through what you need for healing. It’s not a quick fix. It takes time in putting the pieces together.

Each session builds on the previous one. Piece by piece you can begin rebuilding and healing.

It also takes time for each of you to make the necessary changes in your lives. When you want wholeness, it arrives one piece at a time. The workshop guides you through the challenges that come with each piece you put together and reconnect.

You and your marriage need healing after what happened. You need a road map that lets you know how all the pieces fit together. The workshop provides that.
