The theology of divorce.

There are numerous debates on what the Bible teaches concerning divorce as it relates to infidelity. This is not going to be a theology lesson, merely some observations on this occurrence. What I have seen is that many pastors are unwilling to take hard stands on the issue. As a general consensus, many pastors cite adultery as a viable reason for divorce. When you receive such advice from a pastor, priest, preacher, deacon or elder, look at the lives of those ministers. My own observation is that those who allow the infidelity have often been touched by it in their own lives or lives of a family member. When infidelity occurs, the damage is not limited to the couple. The scars cut across family member and generations. One effect of those scars it that people begin changing how they view infidelity and divorce. Before you take the advice or counsel of people to heart, consider where they are coming from and ask yourself if they are concerned for truth, “keeping the peace” or even “easing their conscience”?  By taking such counsel with this perspective you can avoid many heartaches and bad decisions.
