On reading through some research yesterday, I came across a fascinating article addressing the connection between marital discord and morbidity. What the researchers found was that wound healing is slower with couples experiencing marital discord. I had to read it a couple of times to catch its’ significance. What this means for you is that 1) the healing processes in your body are effected by stress , 2) that effect is the SLOWING down of healing. Your body stays physically sick when you are under stress.
The researchers found that wounds stayed inflamed LONGER when there is marital discord. If you wondered why you are not feeling better or healing like you used to, there is a reason. It is not an imagined thing. The researchers found actual bodily changes.
Not only did the wounds of the conflicted couples take 60% longer to heal, there was a notable increase in ‘tumor necrosis factor alpha‘. This is a scary sounding word for a chemical that signals “Bridge out ahead!”. Although it does not sicken you right away, it triggers a worsening of your health. The longer this stuff stays in your system, the more danger you are in of morbidity.
This has some major ramifications for couples where there are affairs. It means that affairs impact your health. It also implies that affairs and the stress associated with them will keep you sick. It does not take a rocket scientist to connect the dots and realize that the longer you are sick, the greater the threat to your life (morbidity).
Although in previous posts I have said that affairs are a threat to your life, studies like this confirm my statements. At first, it was just about the higher risk of spousal violence and greater exposure to STD’s (Sexually Transmitted Diseases). This study opens another dimension. Extreme stress, like that in affairs slows healing AND increases necrotic risks. In other words, affairs are a life-threatening situation in more ways than one.
With affairs you have higher risks of the external threat of someone taking your life, you have higher risks of the external threat of sexually transmitted conditions, AND the internal threat of changes within your own body. Think about that for a moment. With an affair you raise the risk of death in THREE areas.
I’ll bet that the Hollywood movies and porn flicks that you or your spouse have seen never relayed that information to you. If you knew that risk, it would not make an affair or swinging look so tempting. If you started looking at each temptation in terms of how it would raise the risk of you getting ill or threatening your life in terms of morbidity, you would think twice, if not more.
Let me raise the stakes even further. The stress of an affairs impacts both of you. Although you may not have had the affair, the stress associated with it is impacting your healing. It is affecting your health, not just the cheater’s.

So true….though my daily time in the Word and continued research in the scriptures combined with relying upon prior years ongoing walking with Jesus Christ in personal relationship…..my health was indeed impacted by years of my husband’s neglect and rejection…..loneliness which I dealt with by practicing thankfulness for what I did have and empathy for his being so “hard at work and busy”
On DDay I e perks fed a sudden relief of what had been years of pain which no doctor or specialist could discover the cause.
When a person sins they do not realize that the Bible speaks of how our thoughts which promote our choices and life activities will definitely effect all aspects of our lives and those we are closely relating to
The mind is to be “renewed” with filling it with the knowledge of the Word of God and then more and more healthy thoughts lined up with those God has made available for us to think will instruct and guide us in ways that are in accord with the purposes of the God who loves us
The Bible warns us that the carnal mind…the natural mind contains errors as the only other resource for how we think comes from feelings which may be manipulated by all that goes on in he world which is not presently submitted to God Almighty but is continuing to groan as a result of the Fall…Adams disobedience to the command to keep the Garden of Eden and thus protect tom the influence of the Serpent by way of staying in submission to God
Adam was “WITH” Eve as she misquoted Gods instructions about the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil….leaving out the word “freely”…adding the word “touch”and changing the assurance of the consequences God warned of from “surely die” to “lest he die”
Openings for the Serpent to change and influence her to take the fruit was easy as she was not certain Gods I the toons were generous and protective
Eve was not present when Adam received the command com God but was intended to take the responsibility to protect her and his children by way of passing along the instructions and then keeping them fresh and significant in the minds of his wife and children
Adam rebelled by way of neglecting that first order from God
It’s the same tactic today…the way to get people to reject the God of the Bible is to accuse Him of being unjust and mean…..ignorance of the way the Bible reveals God in truth and exposes lies the flesh willingly receives in order to excuse whatever is a felt need to be met outside the protective order and jurisdiction that God set for our good and His glory we practically unknown today since people do not allow God to reveal Himself from an obedient and faithful searching the scriptures to find out if what they hear or think is even what God says !
Confusion reigns not due to God but do to man’s refusal to study the Word and continue to learn to trust what Gos says
He said “if you abide in my word and my word abides in you my Father and I will come in and abide in you and I will reveal myself to you”
Approaching the study of the Bibke with our ego and intellect held above revealed knowledge or taking someone’s word without checking it out ….even if it takes a while…asking God to teach us as we do so….is foolish and can be destructive
Fallen condition has brought us to having a deceitful heart and the Bibke warns it is sick above all things because we have trusted whatever has come to mind without realizing the wicked one is at work to distort perspectives
Gods word defines its own terms where words and phrases are used in context throughout
God said He is seeking those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth…..that means without Christ we are not equip with His spirit to guide us into all truth
The new birth comes by hearing the word of God which is said to be a “Seed”…it is the incorruptible seed which causes the new birth of the new creation in Christ Jesus
If thou shalt confess Jeaus is LORD and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead thou shalt be saved”….”saved”=sozo ….made whole…..new creature….the birth from above!
Thus equipped the Word of God opens up and as we “keep” His Words ….we are taught by Him
Thoughts motivate actions
The warning for us as Christians is to
Cast down imaginations and every high thing that holds itself up against the knowledge of God
AND. Take captive EVERY THOUGHT. To the obedience of Christ
Making decisions which are righteous and protective is possible when one does this
Learning the hard way from actions that bring sure consequences of disaster is a backwards way to find out God knows what His Word is talking about
The book of Proverbs is full of good common sense that many have not even been taught since most are now taught by media and a lot of demonic doctrines apart from the wisdom of God found only in the Bible as taught and revealed to those who receive the word of God with meekness as it is able to save our souls!!
I thank God for His ongoing instruction and protection despite the darkness of this world increasing at an alarming rate for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him until THAT DAYðŸžðŸ·
I am grateful as I humbled to have been able to finally take these things to heart
Jesus Christ is persistently trustworthy and patient…not willing that any perish but that all repent and come to a saving knowledge of Jesua Christ
