Giving Love a Bad Reputation

Every morning my day starts with me walking my dogs. I like doing it early before all the other dog walkers are up and after the morning traffic rush in the neighborhood is over.

In the summer here in Texas, its especially important walking in the morning before the hot temperatures kick in. In the early morning quiet, I have time to think and ponder.

One of the items I pondered on was a sign put up by a neighbor on the next street proclaiming “In our America, Love Wins“. To make an even larger emotional appeal, the message is emblazoned on an American flag.

I understand the power of love and the transformation it can bring. I’ve also seen the destruction it brings when put into the hands of cheaters and lovers.

Cheaters take sayings like that and use it in excusing their infidelity. They excuse any kind of relationship by putting a “Love Wins” label on it.

They excuse their self-centered destruction of their marriage because they ‘love’ someone else. Under the excuse of ‘but I love him”, they destroy their families.

When you put Love Wins on a flag, it makes it sound like its’ your patriotic duty to allow anything in the name of love.  Perhaps working with affairs has made me cynical about those hiding their infidelities and libertine-ism behind the label of “love”.

I like love, I also like marriage and spouses who remain loyal to their marriage vows. I think those using the label of love as an excuse for their infidelities give love a bad name.

Cheaters giving love a bad name make things confusing for betrayed spouses and their families. Not only does it give ‘love’ a bad name, it confuses things. It leads to those conversations about how “I don’t love your mommy anymore. I love someone else”.

Real love is not something you can choose to turn off when you get tired of your marriage. The world needs real love instead of the plastic, phony love that is ends up bringing more hurt than healing.

When you’ve been damaged by the plastic, phony love, you need a place to talk about what you’ve been through and to get your head on straight. One place you can do that is by joining the support community at Restored Lifestyle. There you can talk about things and start sorting them out.

The problem may not be what you think it is.

Best Regards,

Jeff
