On Monday, the adultery peddler Ashley Madison announced that they will offer the service of infidelity coaches. These coaches help cheating spouses through the world of online dating.
This means that spouses unfamiliar with online cheating will now have someone ‘showing them the ropes’. Instead of fumbling and making mistakes, they will be helped on their way to perdition.
My initial reaction was one of being stunned. Although I didn’t want to think that coaches could stoop that low, I recalled that some therapists and ministers encourage cheating by excusing it. The coaches showing them ‘how’ is just the next step.
In the past, you could count on the cheater fumbling their way through the learning curve or being too scared to follow through on their intentions. Now coaches are soothing their insecurities and helping them through the challenges.
Instead of friends encouraging them to cheat, they now have professionals trained in ways of manipulation helping to smooth their way into cheating. This is not just a ‘highway to hell’, it’s become the no speed limit autobahn to hell.
My mind replayed the line from Firefly that talked about the special level of hell warning that came associated with taking undue sexual advantage. The shepherd warned Captain Reynolds about the danger of him being in that special level of hell “.. reserved for child molesters and people that talk in theaters.”
I understand how a business wants consumers to consume more of their product. When your business is peddling infidelity, encouraging more consumption is distasteful along with posing a threat to your marriage.
