Although secrets are the main entree of Cheating, distractions are a side order. Cheaters often distract their spouses from what they are really up to. Holidays such as Thanksgiving are a prime opportunity for them to sneak off or distract your attention from what they are doing. Realize that all of us can be distracted. The cheaters know this and use those highly distracted times to sneak stuff past you. They may sneak a quickie meeting, text or phone call in while you are occupied.
Not every phone call or text is to their lover, so it is not a reason to be paranoid. You do need to consider the whole picture. If they are restless or distant from you, then you will want to pay attention to the details. On the other hand, if their attitude is fully focused on you and wanting to be with you, then scrutinizing every call or text is a waste of time and attention. Attention is a valuable commodity these days, especially in the holiday season.
Why do they do it? There is a bigger adrenalin rush when the danger is greater. The thrill of ‘getting away with it’ /’getting caught’ is exciting in itself. (Yes, there are some cheaters who want to get caught, since getting caught means they no longer have to hide things. These often feel relief at getting caught).
So approach distraction with caution, and have a Happy Thanksgiving!
