Where I live in Texas we live with the constant threat of rattlesnakes. Having grown up with that constant threat, I’ve learned what to look for and places to avoid.
I’ve learned that they aren’t something to play with. One rattlesnake episode involved the discovery of one just outside of the doors of my church one evening.
Although rattlesnakes are found in that part of Texas, it was highly unusual for one to be right outside the church entrance in Pasadena.
I’m not sure if the snake crawled there himself or if someone put him there. Either way, it posed a threat to anyone entering or exiting through that door.
The incident left an impression on me about the danger and the importance of being aware rather than just assuming places are safe. Rattlesnakes pose dangers anywhere you go.
Although I never expected encountering a rattlesnake at church, it happened.
They’re also a danger even after you chop off their heads. Their heads can still bite you when they are dead. The venom remains a danger even after they’re dead.
In a similar manner, narcissists and those with narcissistic tendencies pose dangers to your safety and peace of mind. Since they are preoccupied with their own fantasies and goals, they don’t live in the same world you do.
They need attention so much, they don’t care how they get it. They are a danger regarding the risk of affairs, and they remain dangerous after the affair.
Just when you think they’re out of your lives, they can strike in unexpected ways.
At times I wonder if they are more dangerous after the affair than before it happened. When your spouse is a narcissist, like a rattlesnake, there are constant dangers during and AFTER the affair.
