I often recall the words of a businessman I met on a trip. I was out of the country at the time, and he showed me a coin that was only available in Texas. I was surprised to see it in another part of the world. We talked about it a bit, and he said, “The world is a lot smaller that you think it is”.
I am reminded of his comments and its application to affairs. When you have an affair, you need to realize that the world is a lot smaller than you think it is. That person that you are considering having an affair with just might be the wife of a jealous police officer, or their brother is a politician in your home town. One of the dangers with affairs is that you do not know up front what you are getting into and who knows who or who is related to who.
You may be having the affair with your lover, but who they know and who they are related to make not be as approving of the affair as you are. They may even blame you for the affair.
There are often concerns about having affairs in small towns because everyone talks. The same is true of the big cities. It may take a little longer, but eventually it all comes out. Lovers are often not honest and 100% forthcoming, and neither are you. The term anonymous sex may be talked about, yet the reality is that you are a somebody and your lover is a somebody as well, and those somebodies know other people.
If you are stuck in one of these situations, the time to start getting out of it is now. Although you should have started getting out long before now, the situation is not going to improve by waiting for the right time.
