Modern society wants information that is short, concise and easy to consume. This appetite for fast food and fast answers creates its own set of problems.
One of the problems the appetite for fast answers creates is that of oversimplifying marriage and your marriage relationship. Although simple answers are wanted, when it comes to marriage there are some areas that aren’t reducible to simple checklists.
Checklists are good for identifying behaviors, but don’t explain motivations behind them. Although I don’t like the fast answer culture and checklists, I realize that it’s something I’ve got to adjust to.
A recent reader wants to know “What are the signs a wife is putting the affair behind her?” Although the reader wants to know the behavioral signs, they don’t convey where her heart is or the motives behind her actions.
Some of the signs include the following:
- When she wears her hair and dresses to please you rather than others. Even in Biblical accounts mention is made of changes in the wife’s garments, how she wears her hair and fingernails.
- When she no longer fantasizes about the affair or others.
- When she kisses you with passion and calls out your name.
- When she prays for you.
- When she shows a genuine interest in you and your activities. This includes surrounding herself with things you’ve bought her or gave to her.
- When ALL contact with the lover is totally cut off, all pictures removed and gifts given removed as well.
- When she shows interest and emotional investment in the home both of you share.
- When she sleeps with you. This includes staying in the same bedroom and also going to bed at the same time that you do.
Seeing any of these signs is hopeful. It’s important remembering that even when the affair is ended, it’s not over. There are further steps needed in removing the affair from their heart and head.
